UX WRITING CHALLENGE DAY 14

Proactivity
UX Writing Challenge

THE SCENARIO

A user is shopping using a price comparison app that boasts “real-time” pricing on items. As they are checking the price of an item, something goes wrong. The problem is unknown.

THE CHALLENGE

Write a message that informs the user that they cannot access the app right now.  You cannot specify "why" the app doesn't work, you also want them to continue using the app.

THE SOLUTION

I didn’t use any particular empathy tool for this challenge: I simply wrote as many messages as possible before finding some that I liked. I wanted to take away any guilt from the user while also using humor to make the situation and the error as less dramatic as possible. And I found that “humanizing” the app did wonders for that purpose.

I also decided to create a second message for when the user would open again the app that would be aligned with the first one. This message would offer the user the possibility of pick up things where they left it or simply start a new search.
